I bought 4 movies from Blinkbox, all of which were supposedly in HD.

I have tried them on two different devices,

a Sony Laptop with a 5Mb broadband connection, from Virgin media,
and the other a Surface Pro and on a 13Mb connection from EE, which never gets below 12Mb, connected to a 40 inch LCD TV via HDMI.

In both instances, the quality is nowhere near HD, not even close to 720p. There are times when you could be forgiven for thinking the quality is worth the full price, if you squint your eyes maybe, but the problem comes and goes - sometimes it looks OK and I just mean OK, not HD....and the next, there is so much MPEG blocking, it almost becomes offensive to watch. It becomes especially obvious when there is a lot of movement, or plenty of detail in the scene.

The only positive out of this is that the HD movies I bought only cost 50p...even at that price, I'm not sure I will be buying any more.

In summary, I would not recommend BlinkBox to a friend.

Blink box is absolutely rubbish ever since they got rid of free movies it has been a no go site and if they do not reintroduce free movies they might as well remove the sight.

Signed up for offer, paid for film,film wouldn't play on site, so downloaded, still wouldn't play, spent over 2 hours messing with silverlite software, to no joy.Backwards and forwards to site.
Better before TESCO, simple and easy to use now a nightmare.

In summary, I would not recommend BlinkBox to a friend.

The good - there are a reasonable number of films/TV etc

The bad - The interface is not very clear and does not match the instructions. Technical help claims 24 hour turnaround - try 124 and the reply doesn't even match the question; just a cut and paste from something else.

Avoid like the plague

In summary, I would not recommend BlinkBox to a friend.

Had slight issue with buffering to start. I meant to get 20 Mb connection but found out that at times my connection dropped below 2Mb which caused the buffering. Got that sorted with my ISP and it's been happy streaming since.

Customer Support is very helpful, the manager emailed me and apologised and also extended my rental period. This gives me confidence in using the site.
Definitely recommend it !!

Films on offer are great, pricing is average comparing to Google play. They need to sort out direct peering with Virgin BT et al and have burst capacity for peak demand as it had buffering incidents every 30 minutes on average. Its good, but they cant skimp on the network. Maybe invest in CDN.

Very bad service! Im trying to download an app to watch the purchased movies since last week, the app store says it does not exist, I write to the customer service, they send me a link which doesnt work and mark my problem as solved. So - I go to the app store which says the app does not exist etc
Total money waste.

In summary, I would not recommend BlinkBox to a friend.

Really poor quality. Have wasted money on renting two films, both were impossible to watch due to the constant buffering. In the end I gave up and as once you start them they only remain in your library for 48 hours I ended up watching neither, so that was £7 completely wasted. I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, as I wondered if it was my broadband connection, but each time I have had this issue on both my smart tv and my iPad I have checked I player and each time iplayer was working absolutely fine with no buffering. Waste of money and very very frustrating.

In summary, I would not recommend BlinkBox to a friend.

I don't usually write reviews on anything but after reading all these negative reviews about Blinkbox I was quite shocked and thought I needed to say my piece!

I have been using Blinkbox for the last 1 1/2 - 2 years and have never experienced a single problem with playback and I use it every month! They have a huge selection of films to choose from, from old titles up to some of the most recent. They have some decent promotions running including "Movie Mondays" which although are not always the greatest selection, they quite often have a great pick. All these People complaining of poor streaming and not worth a pound, I think you need to look at your internet connections and computer specs before pointing fingers. I personally run the Xbox 360 app on a BT Wireless connection and have been happy since I started using the service.

I can't comment on customer service as I have never needed to contact them, although I would hope if I ever needed to contact them I wouldn't run into any problems.

Might I add that its not a subscription service, so there are no contracts or minimum... (Read the full review)

We signed up for Blinkbox to play films on our Kindle fire only to find that it is not possible to download the app. This may be our fault for not checking compatibility but our main concern was our experience of the customer service this company provides.

First of all it is impossible to speak with anybody at the company. There is a support service provided through a web portal but despite asking we were not given with telephone contact details. We were amazed that a reputable company like Tesco would deliver such a poor customer experience. It was all really frustrating and we were not able to resolve issues through correspondence and have given up.

We are sure that many people will not experience these sorts of problems and will be satisfied once everything is up and running but we had a poor experience which and more evidence of concern from Blinkbox would have helped. Customer service is clearly not a priority of this company and our experience has affected our view of Tesco which up until now had been relatively positive.

In summary, I would not recommend BlinkBox to a friend.
