Just bloody awful

If your lucky you get SD quality. I have 100mb fibre optic virgin broadband, but blinkbox/talk talk TV tell me it's not good enough. It is however good enough for Netflix, Amazon, iplayer, 4od, and PlayStation now etc etc... But blink box needs more. The customer support simply don't know how Internet works.

In summary, I would not recommend BlinkBox to a friend.

Avoid!

We have a high bandwidth connection. Blinkbox is the only service we've tried that consistently fails to deliver. Several times we've had vague error messages and the film won't even start. If the film starts, the buffering makes them unwatchable. You'll spend your time emailing them to help diagnose their problem. They won't. You'll spend more time trying to get them to give you a refund. They won't.

In summary, I would not recommend BlinkBox to a friend.

I only installed blinkbox so my kids could watch the new releases as their a bit young for the cinema and to be honest the first couple of films that we watched were ok (when I say ok I mean the problems weren't constant) So yesterday I put on a film that we had waited ages to watch only for them to be bitterly disappointed as was I that 1:The quality of the film was rubbish 2:The constant buffering which may I add does not happen on Netflix and finally 3:The frustrating issue of the film constantly stopping and not resuming from last played. So after a couple of grueling hours a ruined film 3 upset kids and a waste of money I finally gave up and decided that I would much rather drive a 10mile round trip to my nearest blockbuster than rent a film from blinkbox again its very well having thousands of films to rent but what's the point if you can't watch them.

In summary, I would not recommend BlinkBox to a friend.

Has the potential to be very good.

I have used BlinkBox quite a lot, mainly for my kids to watch movies - usually one per week. They are 12 and under so there are restrictions on what I will let them watch. I have tried many other streaming services but keep coming back to Blinkbox. I don't want to pay a monthly subscription unless I can get the latest releases but I haven't found anyone offering that.

The movie content on Blinkbox is very up to date. I tend to pay £3.49 to rent a movie which is what I was paying at Blockbusters until my local finally closed down.

As for quality, when watching on a laptop, I opt for SD as I don't see the point of going for HD when looking at a 15" screen from a distance of 8 feet. The video quality is fine however, I do get occasional stuttering which can be annoying. We watched Maleficent at the weeken and the stuttering was particularly bad. I haven't been able to establish if that's down to my Virgin wi-fi or not yet, as when we watched Godzilla the following day on the PS3, the movie played faultlessly. There is no HD option on the... Every movie I've rented from this service has been terrible quality - I've paid the equivalent of a Netflix membership for a film which has the quality of a knock off DVD! I am extremely angry and very disappointed...DO NOT BOTHER WITH BLINKBOX!

In summary, I would not recommend BlinkBox to a friend.

Don't Use

Connectivity and sound quality very poor.
Constantly searching and buffering . We have not watched one film completely through.
We were supposed to have been refunded our money but we haven't been given a refund either.
Stay away from this . I have used Love Film and Netflix with no problem.

In summary, I would not recommend BlinkBox to a friend.

Good when films downloaded to PC.

Having read the other reviews I decided not to attempt live streaming due to me having an unstable broadband connection. Download of a 2.2Gb standard definition film took approx 4 hours.
Play back on a 4 year old windows 7 PC was occasionally a little juddery on sound and vision, but in general was watchable. Play back on a six month old PC running Windows 8.1 was near perfect.

In summary, I would recommend BlinkBox to a friend.

Very poor and expensive

Constant buffering, has ruined a lot of good movies for me. When it does eventually play the sound isn't their or out of sync. I have just bought captain America to watch and im writing this review while waiting for buffering, its cost me 9.99, such a fool. Half way through the sound went out and I missed a really important part of the movie, which rewinding doesn't seem to solve. All in all a total rip off and would advise people to stay well clear.

In summary, I would not recommend BlinkBox to a friend.

Really bad streaming

I've had too many films with buffering problems and just gave up with the last one. Previously I've emailed to ask them to fix the problem, which they eventually managed to do but it's just too much hassle when you want to be able to just sit and watch a film. It's hardly spontaneous! So I'm not gonna use them any more and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone else.

In summary, I would not recommend BlinkBox to a friend.

This has got to be the worst case of ... "what you gonna do about it" type companies they are evasive ,so cant be pinned down to an answer and they just keep this DUH I DUNNO attitude ,its always "oh its another department etc etc.... honestly I could give you a transcript of the dozens of mails I have had to make and the calls I had to make to TRY to find out who to talk to... I could also give you an account of all the problems making the movies unwatchable... but I'm simply gonna say .DON'T DON'T DON'T give them any money....

In summary, I would not recommend BlinkBox to a friend.
