As well as offering a huge selection of music, iTunes (Apple’s sales site) also offers top quality movies to its loyal band of followers through iTunes Movie Downloads UK. Whilst most people can use iTunes it’s perhaps best suited to those of you who own Apple products already, such as iPads and iPods, because it has some unique synchronisation features that will improve your overall movie experience.
So what are these unique features? Primarily they involve synchronising your devices, meaning that if you buy something from the store it will appear on each of your Apple products. So you can begin watching a movie at home and then carry on whilst riding the train. Pretty neat. Members also get exclusive movie content such as deleted scenes, cast interviews and behind the scenes footage, which is a huge allure for real movie fans who want to see a little bit more than everyone else.
There are two key things to know about how iTunes Movie Downloads operates, in terms of the services you can pay for. The first service is simple: you buy a movie and then access it online. This is quick and simple, you simply set up your account (if you haven’t already) and click “buy”. You can then access the film.
The second option is to consider paying for Apple TV. This is a small box that is sent to your home; you plug it into your HD TV and – wahay – you have access to a wide range of top channels. These include Sky Sports, CrunchyRoll (anime), Netflix and many more. It’s worth noting, however, that some channels such as Netflix may incur an additional fee.
The choice of movies is excellent and you ought to find almost everything you’re looking for on iTunes. That said, it is generally more tailored towards Hollywood Blockbusters than art-house or independent films, but most known movies will be on there.
You’ll also have the added advantage of the “geniuses”, a team of specialists who are renowned for being able to fix problems. Of course, there are complaints that they’re somewhat unobtainable, but if you do have a problem then the site offers a solid amount of information to help you out in the interim.
Where iTunes Movie Downloads falls down slightly is on price. Whilst the Apple TV seems to offer great value for money you may discover that you end up paying additional subscription fees for some of the channels that are available through it. Purchasing a movie directly also isn’t particularly cheap, with “Hunger Games: Catching Fire” coming in at almost £14. You can buy it cheaper elsewhere.
To really take full advantage of iTunes you probably want to be using Apple hardware too, however it offers a great range of high quality movies for anyone.
