Not worth the hassle
24 November 2013

I tried this but can't get it to work on my laptop at all. Someone suggested a different media player as I just kept getting error messages with Windows Media Player. So I tried VCL media player. At least I got no errors on that, it was just unwatchable as it was so pixelated and there was no sound. Sometimes when things are pixelated you can work out shapes, but I couldn't even do that. And it wasn't anything to do with the internet connection as this was something I actually downloaded to watch later - I wasn't streaming it. When you go on the help section of their website it just comes up with a 'this domain is for sale you can buy this domain if you want to' message.

Interestingly enough it works perfectly streaming on my tablet. However I want this on my laptop so I can see the bigger screen.

In summary, I would not recommend BlinkBox to a friend.

Its terrible, it says use a different browser, than ie,from metro or desktop on surface pro with win 8.1.
Tried three time to submit help request this did not work, wow, forget the site.

Amazing , you would think Tesco as big as they are would have done a better job, really bad that I opt to rent a movie and them it will not play, must be better sites out there who have implemented this survive better.

In summary, I would not recommend BlinkBox to a friend.

Not even worth £1

I was tempted to try this service because I was staying at a hotel and there was an introductory offer of £5 when you paid in £1. Tesco's ad for Blinkbox had a picture of Skyfall which I rather fancied watching. Unfortunately that wasn't one of the titles offered! I decided to spend my credit to buy rather than rent something, and plumped for the TV version of Pride & Prejudice. I clicked the button which stated 'Buy entire series' only to find that I had bought nothing more than three of six episodes!

I had assumed that buying (as opposed to renting) would enable me to download the videos rather than stream them. My mistake, admittedly. Not only can I not do that, I also can't stream any of my measly episodes outside the UK. Given the lousy quality and streaming speed that others have mentioned, I haven't had much luck within the UK either.

In short, a complete waste of time, and not even worth a pound.

In summary, I would not recommend BlinkBox to a friend.

Really poor playback quality
26 October 2013
Reviewer: Razorray from Uk

Very disappointed, joined up to watch game of thrones, playback quality feels worse than an old VHS. No option to increase quality on my PS3 app, even though running off 50mb broadband. if I knew the quality was this bad I would not have joined up. The app works well, but no way will I be buying more content from them.

In summary, I would not recommend BlinkBox to a friend.

BlinkBox On The Blink

I was tempted to use Blinkbox due to their free £5 credit when first registering and the Tesco half price Movie & TV Card offer effectively giving you half price films if you pre-buy credit.

I am afraid I would have to advise anyone thinking of taking up these deals not to bother because BlinkBox simply does not work.

I have used the BT online film site through a Youview box for the last two years and never encountered any problems with streaming films. However when I tried to stream a film from BlinkBox the sound and picture moved out of synchronisation after 20 minutes. I tried to pause and restart the film which also proved difficult only restarting at pre-determined points. The restarting of the film only temporarily resolved the synchronisation problem with the soundtrack moving further out of unison with the picture the longer the film played.

I am afraid to say I found BlinkBox films unwatchable and the product is not fit for purpose, this is surprising because it is owned and advertised and promoted by TESCO! Do not waste your time would be my recommendation.

In summary, I would not recommend BlinkBox to a friend.

Worse than Fake DVD's
15 September 2013
Reviewer: Mr Happy from UK

Even if it worked, it doesn't, Blinkbox only offer 1/2HD quality movies so unless your watching on a cheap, old or tiny set then you're throwing money away paying for their full price streamed movies.

When you do try and stream, even at this poor quality, the image pixelates loses lip sync, sometimes switches back to the start and freezes.

We tried their free trial and paid for one movie, on each occasion it was unwatchable even with fully wired ethernet, the latest smart TV with all updates carried out and a 60Mb connection that has never dropped below 58Mb.

I feel insulted that a company feels that they can offer such a rotten product.

In summary, I would not recommend BlinkBox to a friend.

Don't bother, sort it out tescos because is just a joke

Have used blinkbox for 3 films streaming on my smart tv. What a terrible experience this was.

I us all other netflix, iplayer, 4od and such like with no problems at all.
Yet when I come to use blinkbox, there is buffering every minute or two for the entire movie... thus rendering the film un-watchable in my opinion. After lengthy disputes with customer services their solution was to either watch the film out of peak times or to download the film to another device... this is not a solution it is an admition of a poor service.

This is a shame because blinkbox gets good titles earlier than other services.
Sort it out tesco's, you have all the money in the world so this should be easy for you.

In summary, I would not recommend BlinkBox to a friend.

Tried 3 set top boxes and still unable to use it...........

I wanted to use an on demand service without having to pay a subscription and Blinkbox seemed to be a good option as there were plenty of films and TV programmes available.

I checked the Blinkbox web site and found two supposedly compatible devices but the first one wouldn't work at all so had to go back for a refund and the second one had Blinkbox written all over the box, so you would have thought that it wouldn't fail?

Wrong, two days after we got it all installed and apparently working the Technika Smart TV Box stopped working with Blinkbox and hasn't worked since. A firmware upgrade was announced but the box will not update and so far Blinkbox customer support has been awful. You would have expected a better service from Tesco but sadly the service is poor, they don't respond to requests for support and the whole organisation appears to be a complete shambles.

I have already paid for a TV series and a film that I cannot watch and the response from Blinkbox has been to watch them on my PC or laptop instead. I want to watch them on my TV and the deal was... (Read the full review)

Purchased Titles Would Not Play: Zero 'Customer Service'
30 July 2013
Reviewer: Derek from UK

183 of 364 people found this review helpful

Some TV titles I had bought with a supposed 'lifetime' license were no longer available to play. Weeks after referring the problem to Customer Services, they had been unable or unwilling to provide any meaningful response, save for offering their 'thanks' for my comments.

Beware!
