Whilst EE Film can at first seem a little generic, it offers more film passion that you might expect. With trivia, special collections, purchasing and rental options, it’s a flexible site for viewing a wide range of top titles.
Yes, you’ll find all the usual films here, the new releases and top sellers, but if you search carefully enough you may also discover a few lesser known titles. Movies can be downloaded on a 30 day rental period which can then be watched over a 48 hour period from when you first begin viewing.
Many of the films will play on a variety of devices including iOS, Android, WP and PC or Mac. You can either choose to rent a film immediately or simply save it for later, making it a useful space for developing a list of films you’d like to watch in the near future.
Renting movies on this site isn’t particularly cheap compared with its competitors, and it makes no mention as to which movies are HD and which aren’t, meaning that potentially the audio visual quality may not be up to scratch if you want to watch it on your big screen HD TV with surround sound. However the site does feel better designed than many others and the staff involved appear to have put more effort into designing it.
There are unique collections of movies to browse (our favourite being “Robots & Monsters”), as well as special offers. There’s also a fairly decent amount of information on the films and you can find out trivia regarding the production, director, actors and actresses.
The site doesn’t allow users to rate movies or to comment on them, which is a shame because it would be useful to know what other members thought. As a member you can request 2 for 1 tickets for particular movies that are currently in the cinemas, saving you a bit of money if you often visit the theatre.
EE Film isn’t perfect, it could certainly use a slightly more diverse range of movies and more of a community feel, but it does a better job than a number of its big-name contemporaries. It’s further enhanced by some generous member rewards, and although its prices are pretty standard generally you can find a few bargains in its virtual bargain bins.
